Hello, one.
Hello, other.
It’s raining today.
Yes…wait, are we doing this on Tuesdays now.
I don’t know. Is that a problem.
Well, you know how I am about change…it makes me nervous.
Yes, that’s true…I do know that. But is this really such a big change.
Sometimes it’s not the size of the change, other. Sometimes it’s just how I feel inside.
Maybe it’s the rain.
It could be…is there something we can do about that…
We could dance in it!
Oh!
What do you think.
I like it but I’m feeling shy…
Well, I am rusty, if that makes you feel better.
Do you know the steps.
No…let’s just wing it.
Okay. I just want to feel free, you know.
I know.
Thank you, other.
It’s why I’m here, one.
Maybe it will be a misty rain!
I hope so…let’s go.
Okay.
[interlude of wet frenetic dancing]
I feel so much better, other!
I know! That was fantastic!
We should dance more often.
We really should.
Will you remind us.
I’ll try.
Goodbye, other!
‘Til next time!

/ March 12, 2013I’m laughing, this is lovely and funny. I don’t know why, but in this piece, the one,or maybe it’s the other, reminds me of The Cat In The Hat when I imagine him !?

/ March 12, 2013Glad you enjoyed it! And that it got a laugh out of you…I feel like a success. And I think the The Cat in the Hat sounds like a fine image…why not.

/ March 13, 2013I image the one and the other as circular beings… I loved this, on my rainy morning. Thank you!

/ March 13, 2013Circular makes a lot of sense, actually.

/ March 14, 2013I can see Dr. Seuss, and they certainly seem circular, the one and the other, but I also hear something not dissimilar to Mo Willems’ Elephant & Piggie books – the key (and classic) texts here being ‘Elephants cannot dance!’ and ‘There is a bird on your head!’
birds fly
/ March 14, 2013I like that. I don’t think I knew of those books (they came out after I’d left working in public libraries), but they look really fun. (‘There is a bird on your head!’ seems somehow familiar, though.)

/ March 16, 2013I like your word usage. I really get to know these characters even though not too much is said. A lot is left up to the reader. I would like to attempt a drawing of these two, though it would be hard to compete against Mo Willems and Dr. Seuss.

/ March 16, 2013Thanks, Taidgh! I’d love to see what you come up with for a drawing.
